Who Should Apply
This program is designed for small businesses that:
- Have been operating for at least 2 years
- Are in good standing with all laws and regulations
- Are Minority- owned or Minority-controlled (as defined by federal guideline)
- Serve or operate in low-to moderate income or underserved communities
- Have a clear plan to uses funds for business growth and Stability
- Local priority given to businesses in Summit County, with an emphasis in Akron
Who is eligible to apply?
Do I need to be a Buckeye State Credit Union member to apply?
No. Membership is not required to apply for this grant program.
How much funding is available?
Buckeye State Credit Union Plan to award three grants totaling $475,000:
- One grant of $200,000
- One grant of $150,000
- One grant of $125,000
What can grant funds be used for?
Grant funds can be used for essential business needs like: payroll, rent or utilities, inventory or supplies, working capital, or day-to-day operating expenses. Funds cannot be used for things like political activities or lobbying, personal expenses or improper benefits, illegal activities

Does meeting the eligibility requirements guarantee funding?
No. This is a competitive grant program with limited funding. Meeting the eligibility requirements does not guarantee that an application will be selected for funding.
My business is outside of Akron. Can I still apply?
Yes. Businesses outside Akron may apply if they meet the program’s eligibility requirements. Priority consideration may be given to businesses located in or serving Summit County, particularly Akron, but eligible businesses from other qualifying areas are encouraged to apply.
